Following is an outline of the services provided by me:

Project Management

Managing a localization or translation project means to evaluate, budget, schedule, monitor and co-ordinate all the required resources to carry out the tasks involved.

A project manager supervises the translation, testing, engineering and quality assurance/control tasks.

Engineering

Translation and localization proyects require processing the source components, subject to be adapted to another language, as well as the target ones. Such processings are known as Localization Engineering and, basically, it's perform at 3 stages within the overall localization process:

  • Analysis or evaluation of the source material
  • Pre-translation preparation
  • Post-translation assembling

A localization engineer performs most of the language-independent tasks such as:

  • Resource extraction
  • Localized versions re-compilation
  • Web sites adaptation
  • Indexes, lists, glossaries, dropdown boxes, etc. re-sorting,
  • TMTranslation Memory, repository of previously translated strings maintenance, export, import, conversion, etc.
  • Localization bug fixing
  • Screen shooting

amongst other tasks

Translation

Specialized in IT, automotive and recipes among other fields, from English into European Spanish.

A localization or translation project often calls for other linguistic tasks which include but are not limited to:

  • Linguistic support to marketing, management, engineering or development teams
  • Glossary creation
  • Translation Memory creation and maintenance
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) assessment
  • Style guides

Testing

Whenever a site or application undergoes localization they need to be tested in order to guaranty that they look and perform as the original.

Localization testing aims to detect, record and follow-up the defects introduced in the localization process or those caused by localizabilitycapability of an application or web site to be localized issues in an application or web site.

QA, QC and LSO

QA and QC stand for Quality Assurance and Quality Checks respectively while LSO is the acronym for Language Sign-Off, and they all are key to success in any translation or localization project.

Often used interchangeably, QA is generaly applied throughout the production process while QC relates to a milestone or final evaluation but both refer to a linguistic assessment. LSO is final linguistic check of any media that has been edited after translation to ensure that any such post-translation process has not tampered with the text integrity.
